“Public Bathrooms” (“Baños Públicos, S.A.”), a Cuban comedy, takes place in one of life’s most needed necessities where all are equal – the bathroom. A woman, the attendant of the public bathroom, discreetly discusses capitalistic opportunities with a gentleman, while ensuring he pays his fair share for use of the dilapidated government facility.

“Baños Públicos, S.A.” (“Public Bathrooms”) is written by Cuban writer, Esther Suárez Durán (Havana, 1955). Suárez Durán has written two dozen books and 20 works for the theater. Her plays have been presented in Cuba, the U.S., Italy, Spain, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Peru. She explores themes rarely frequented in Cuba with warm humor and a critical eye to the Communist government.
